There is no doubt that in AV the displays are what can rightly be called the “beauty” in a project. It is the first thing you see and the vehicle that delivers content to the viewer. In architecture we see the building. In performing arts, we see the act on stage. What we do not see is the foundation of a building or all that goes into putting an act in front of an audience. Without these unseen elements the “beauty” is lost. So, it is with displays and mounts. We see the beauty of the display but not what goes on behind the scenes. In other words, the mount. I will paraphrase a famous comedian who used to proclaim, “Mounts don’t get no respect”.
I suggest that mounts have a beauty all of their own. There are several levels to achieving this status. First of all, does the mount do the basic thing it is supposed to do. Does it adequately (solidly and securely) mount to the wall, ceiling, or floor? If yes, that is great, but it does not end there. What is the design of the mount? It may need to be flat, or it may need to tilt, or it may need to adjust or extend. At best there is an elegance (aka beauty) in design. What materials are used? Is the steel and connecting hardware of high quality? Is the machining done well? Is the surface powder coated and durable? Finally, is the mount designed to be efficiently installed by a systems integrator. Time is money and time saved here adds to the overall value of the mount you purchase.
The totality of these key elements adds up to the “beauty” that the mount can provide. At Crimson AV our success comes from the combination of design, manufacturing, quality control, functionality, ease of installation and use, and yes, price. It all adds up to the true beauty for integrators and end users alike and that is value.
